Welcome

" I see myself getting closer to figuring out what I was meant to do...I know food will be involved. We shall see." That was from a closing passage in my private journal dated September 17,2007. Ten years later, I can't quite say I'm certain about what I was meant to do, but I can say it has been a hell of a ride figuring it out thus far. Welcome to The Citronade Stand. If you are reading this than I guess that means I've committed and I'm in. I never thought I would muster up the courage to write a blog, but here I am. If we met in a coffee shop you would walk away thinking, 'She has a lot to say'. Its true. I don't know if a blog will be able to quench that desire to be heard, but its worth a try ,right? I am a lover of celebrations, food, the arts, music, and language. I love learning about other cultures, and sharing things about my own. I think it’s a fair exchange that should cost no human being anything.

Growing up Haitian in America has had an impact on me that I am ready to share. It’s been a major factor on how I see and experience the world. It makes up the fabric of my being and has framed the artwork of creating my life. Haitian culture is so complex and vast beyond even my own measure. I enjoy learning more and more about it as the days go by. I love meeting other Haitians and finding out their stories in the diaspora.

I hope every time you come to this blog you learn something new. It is my hope that if you are of Haitian descent you will find something here that will make you proud, proud enough to share it. I hope I can inspire you to step out and try something different, like I am, by sharing my writing on this platform.

Well, before I forget,THANK YOU for stopping by . I hope you'll come back again and often. I hope I don't let you down.

Let the conversation begin.
